10 this month!!

Haha thanks to the holiday and christmas season, I managed to sell 10 sets of macintosh system till now. Hopefully I can hit beyond that by the end of this month.

I realized that due to my work I have been neglecting the activities for my table tennis club and the preparation for my OCIP project. Must make up for it when school starts when I only work on Saturday.

Went to cousin Zaiwei's wedding dinner last Saturday. Photos uploading soon.

Road show and a very shrewd uncle

Okay this was my fourth roadshow and I have to admit that this is the worst road show I ever had. 15 plus part timer was there for this road show and even if Im the top sales for the first 3 I would have done rather bad for this also. How do I put it. I mean lets just do a simple calculation, if 20 people are interested and there are 5 partimers, then chances are each part timer can get 4 sales. Now if there are 15 part timers, each part timer can only close 1-2. This case I would rather do show room instead cos don have to say that much even though lesser commission.

There was too many part timers and worst of all they were those kind of kids without experience. They will just rush to anyone they have in sight without seeing who actually serve the customer first. This ends up unhappiness among those kids themselves. I'm happy as I can help these kids if they have any questions ;)

Okay seems that IMM saved me from all the mess. I worked in IMM today helping ZJ cos IMM was short of man power. When ZJ was not around I happened to serve this old man with long brows and glowing face like those wise old man in the movie. He asked me if our shop has Leopard OS in a very strong tone because I couldn hear him for the first. Then I showed him the Leopard OS and he said it was expensive. Finally after some explanation he bought it. So during payment he asked me

Old Man: How long have u been working here?
Me: Eh 3 months plus to 4
Old Man: Then you seem rather inexperience
Me: Because I am a part timer and I don't work everyday
Old Man: So which school are you from?
Me: (Pause) University (Pause) SMU
Old Man: The Bras Basah one?
Me: Yeah

Then ZJ came back and wanted to explain to him about the lucky draw in English.

ZJ: (In Chinese) Okie now we have a lucky draw...
Old Man: Okay even though I am a chinese can you explain to me in English
ZJ: Okie (English)

Then after the payment the old man said

Old Man: 你有没有钉子?
Me: Huh?
Old Man: showing me the stapler hand sign
Me: Oh stapler you mean?
Old Man: Are you a foreigner?
Me: No
Old Man: Then how could you not understand the meaning?
Me: (Resilient) 钉子 could mean nail in English
Old Man: Thats a hard conversion for the meaning.

Then this old man requested me to write down my English and my Chinese name at the back of the receipt. This is the first time a customer has requested for it. Hmm... Damn strange but I got a feeling that this old man is not an ordinary old man.

ISTJs and their relationships

The ISTJ's word is as good as gold, and they honor their commitments faithfully. They believe that to do otherwise would be nothing less than a breach of honor and trustworthiness. Consequently, they take their vows very seriously, and once they have said "I do", that means they are bound to the relationship until "death do us apart" or otherwise. ISTJs are driven to fulfill their responsibilities and duties, and will do so with tireless effort. They will do their best to meet the obligations presented by the different relationship roles which they play during their lives, i.e. spouse, parent, offspring, etc. They may have difficulty showing warmth, but they frequently feel it in abundance, and most develop the ability to show it through sheer effort. If nothing else, the ISTJ holds the gold medal of all the personality types for Effort. They will put forth tremendous amounts of effort to accomplish goals which are important to them. If healthy relationships are among these goals, you can bet that the ISTJ will do everything that they can to foster and maintain healthy relationships.

Status: Amber

My status is amber now. For those who are thinking that if I'm on the verge of breaking up or on the verge of starting a relationship...........................................All wrong!! Haha. The amber status means those my unit is on alert, and it might get to red, which means activation!! I want my status red, but not for this kind of reason!! Lol...Never mind I need to protect the country. (Some of you might be already thinking, " Mai lai la" ) Haha!!

Hmm packed my field pack early this morning. Many thanks to Wei Ming, my ex-and-maybe- future gunner for sending me the list of stuffs i need to bring in case of acti. Gosh I really forgotten wat to bring already. To my surprise though, I realized that all my items are already packed!! Thanks to the good training I had received in Brunei..Lalala. This makes my packing even simpler

Hmm...I'm really thinking, what if I'm activated during my FTB camp...haa....

Simpsons and Imac

Watched The Simpsons Movie on Sunday. Even though the price of the ticket is $9.50, I have to say that the quality of the movie justifies the price of the ticket. I was laughing from the starting of the movie to the end. I still love Homer Simpson the most, cos hes real funny..haha. Even the simpsons are trying to use the movie to promote green movement. Hmm...faster grab the stocks for green companies!! Lol...

As I was typing this blog, I was actually following the news of the newest Imac. The webcam quality of the previous IMac is so good that even Bart Simpson loves it!! Haha.

Took pic with Eddis and Iska as well as the Homer and Bart Simpson during the latest mac roadshow@IMM. A bit blurry cos that helpful assistant obviously has shaky hands

Oh yah back to the release of IMac. Hmm... It looks a bit like IPhone to me actually, a larger version of it. (Photos courtesy of AppleInsider)

Too bad the heavily rumored touchpad keyboard is not released though. I'm sure Apple will release it one day.

Got a new wrist cover for my macbook. *Recommended*

Just got a new wrist cover for my Macbook from Moshi. Very nice feeling and it provides a very good protection for the wrist, ie to prevent it from turning black, scratches etc. It comes with the protection for the trackpad as well. Definately value for $$. I would recommend this to all Macbook users.

Protects the wrist area as well as the trackpad area

By Moshi (Highly recommended)

Einstein's my idol! Besides his scientific accomplishment

Found in an album by a girl named Anna Schmid whom Einstein flirted with,

You girl small and fine
What would I inscribe for you here?
I could think of many a thing
Including also a kiss
On the tiny little mouth.

If you're not angry about it
Do not start to cry
The best punishment is-
To give me one too.

This little greeting is
In remembrance of your rascally little friend.
Albert Einstein

Your brief psychological profile in your past life:
You always liked to travel and to investigate. You could have been a detective or a spy.
The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:
You should develop your talent for love, happiness and enthusiasm and you should distribute these feelings to all people. Do you remember now?

Created my first podcast today!! Haha

Went for the workshop seminar @ ishop organized by MACNUS and conducted by representative from Apple. The speaker (known as Choon) conducted the seminar in a fun and interesting manner. We learnt how to make our own sound files using garageband and publish to Itune as podcast. Yipee!! Made my very first podcast today. We also learnt how to use Imovie, IDVD as well. Choon also taught us how to make and print our very own customized calender using iphoto. He also recommended some very good programs for us. Had a fruitful day today.

Lots of Mac workstation for us to use during the workshop

After the workshop went to meet up with Guan Liang for dinner at NYDC. Because I am vegetarian today so I ordered a pizza with only mushrooms, think its called mushroom delights. Taste not bad though, even I still perfer if there are some meat inside. Lol. Then went to the gundam shop @ cine. Wanted to get a gundam but Guan Liang said the price will get cheaper somewhere. So I managed to control myself and didn buy it. I bought a mini DVI to VGA cable for my MacBook though. Yay now I can use my mac on my Bravia. Hurray!!

Even though I have finished assembling, I still have not "outline" the gundam yet. I will be getting a new gundam marker soon before I start to outline as my old marker is used up.

A day with parents

As some you guys might know, I have completed my last paper on Monday. So being so free and since today is the 15th of lunar month, went with my parents to 四馬路觀音廟 to pray. Its more crowded than normal days, guess its due to the reason that today is a Public Holiday.
After that daddy took us to this temple which has a rather long history and quite popular among tourists. It is the famous 妈祖廟 located at Philip Street.

After that we went to Marina Square instead of the initial Ngee Ann City to have our lunch and shopping before going home. Just when we were about to cross the road to go to the bus stop beside Esplanade, daddy suggested that we have some ice-cream. Very traditional type of ice-cream, with bread wrapping it...haha. Reminds me and of course my parents of our childhood days...haha. I will definately recommend it...5 scoops of ice-creams of different flavors wrapped by a piece of bread for only $1 !

Thats all folks for the day

Sunday, April 29, 2007

Finally!! Phew...

Finally the last paper ended this morning. Hmm..its the first time im late for exams...haha...but luckily not that late..abt 5-6 minutes. Now is the results waiting and job hunting time

Mac ram upgrade and chemistry lab

No classes today. However I still went to school to meet up with ryu to purchase rams from him for my macbook. I paid a total of $300+ for 2*1gig rams and the fee for MacNUS membership. Yipee now I am the official member of MacNUS and my macbook is running much smoothly than last time when it was 2*256mb ram. I find that the money is spend worthwhile:).

When to my first organic chemistry lab yesterday. There's a lot of girls in the lab:). Not surprising though since there are more girls than guys studying Chemistry in NUS. The girls to guys ratio in my lab session is about 3 out of 10. Thats why I enjoy my lab session yesterday...haha. I made a new friend from Chemistry yesterday. His name is Terence and same as me he is from polytechnic also:). Thanks to his help my lab session went on smoothly. I have not done any chemistry lab session since O'Level and therefore I am rather excited about the lab. Terence is very helpful along the way to make sure that I get a hang of the lab apparatus and procedures. Haha the end product which I have refined was very pure as it's melting temperature is very close to the ideal:).

Words from Physics lecturer

Attended the physics lecture today. As usual my physics lecturer, who is also the lecturer of those smart USP students, told us the importance of not to be over reliance of lecturer and model answers, and the differences of school life from the real world. Actually I have already realized it my first semester, however I am still in the process of becoming a "real" university students. I went to asked him how to do some of the questions of Mastering Physics, but he just briefly went through the process. So being a student in transformation I have to work out the answers by myself later. I just feel that my physics lecturer is quite strict with his students even if he is quite friendly sometimes. After hearing his words, I do realise that actually there are a lot of students who are so obssessed with model answers so they actually could not accept any mistakes and make their lifes full of worries. Suddenly I doubt what so many years of education has given us. I definately agree that it is important to gain as much knowledge as possible by going to school so as to be able to take up professional jobs next time to do the work well (Or else nobody goes to school already). However we should also be aware that what the school teaches are not all in our lives. We should be able to handle some other problems which may arise and we do not learn that problem in school. Think that simply means we need to think more, and think more laterally too...haha

Wai Sing farewell dinner

Went for Wai Sing's farewell dinner at pizzuhut@ps. Thanks to Mike I managed to try the vegetarian pizza for the very first time. Hmm...It tastes quite nice actually, and like mike said the blandness of the pizza makes the taste of the cheese more prominent:). We were all discussing who should give the treat and when she asked pz to, she really broke all the guys heart when she said she couldn't because she still has a dog to feed. OMG does that means that guys are more "jian" then dogs?? Hmm I really wonder. However in the end nobody volunteered to give a treat and so we shared the cost among ourselves.
After accompanied Mike to withdraw money when we discussed where to go. KTV is too expensive and the thought of singing till 4am in the morning is simply crazy. I suggested The Mind Cafe instead. However the place was so crowded that we have to wait for around 2 hours before a table is available. Therefore we went to TCC for a drink instead. WS ordered Blue Mountain which costs more then 10 bucks!! But I guess thats what some people go to TCC for isn it? I don't quite know how to appreciate coffee so I ordered a Green Apple Twist which is actually green apple milk shake. Then PY gave her present to ws. It was a scarf knitted by py herself. How sweet of her!! Both mike and I agree that WS is a fortunate guy. Hey WS do something before you leave for Australia even though its like less then a week away (Hope you see this).
After the coffee session we decided that there is no other place to go so we bid farewell. In the bus Mike is still thinking of the PY and WS case. Man I think you need love too...lol...
Did a crazy thing by applying to SMU just in case NUS do not allow me to switch course. LY keep reminding about the school fees but I feel that it is okay since there is always bank loan. Well really need to sort out my thoughts. I took out all my academic credentials to apply online when I saw a printed copy of my course choice for polytechnics last time. I think I must be crazy to put biomed science in third choice since I have 100% confidence of getting any course I place in my first choice. Well I am still good now choosing biomed eng as my first choice last time isn it??Haha. If I chose biomed science the other time then I will have a totally new experience but not sure whether is it good or bad for me too. Thats me . I always like to compare now with past and future. It is good in a sense that you know what you are doing so there is a lower chance of making any horrendous error. Sounds chim?? Call me if you want to know more...haha

Hoo hoo finally weekend!!

Finally survived a series of lectures and now is time to enjoy (and do tutorials also:(). Sadly lab sessions and tutorials are starting next week so will be more busy. I had a lot of fun this week with my OG mates and cousins.

Tuesday
Went for a dinner and movie with my OG mates. I'm glad to hear that all my OG friends are enjoying their first semester. So I guess only it will be only me who is having the thought of changing course. Anyway we discussed a lot of school stuffs and I heard that Erwin is rather worried about having to take General Biology since he has not been studying biology since secondary school days. Personally I feel that this module is just a lot of memorizing work and maybe some logical thinking so I told him that it will be easy (As I heard too from those who have taken it). We watched Pan's Labyrinth that day. I feel that if you are a literature type of person you will like that movie. It is not a horror movie as advertised. Rather the movie talks about a girl who has fantasies from a story book she read in order to draw herself away from the harsh life which she is having. Like Zhongyang said this movie is like an old movie because of the style of filming and the dark scenes throughout the movie. After the movie we went MacCafe for a drink before calling it a day.

Friday
Met up with my sister and my two cousins for dinner at Ding Tai Feng. After that Gao Rui suggested to play pool. After that pool game (10 games) we are all impressed with Gao Rui's skill. My sister and YanHao's skills have improved along the games too. It looks like polytechnic students can play pool better...yay!! Haha... After that we went to MacCafe for a drink and a couple of cakes before going home. (The brownie is very nice!!)

The Wicker Man

We went to celebrate Nasty's birthday yesterday and after that we went to watch a movie titled "The Wicker Man". Sounds cool isn't it? However I only can give this movie a rating of 3/5. The setup is fine but the ending sucks(Go and watch if you want to know why it sucks). I don't want to be a spoiler though...haha. The plot of the movie actually reminds me of another japanese drama titled "Trick". This drama is about a physics professor and his assistant trying to solve mysterious happenings which are actually setups created by a group of people. Okay now back to the movie. Well after watching this movie I really have to agree that anyone with great power, even a genius with high IQ, have little or no chances trying to fight a group of people who are not genius. Try to imagine a ferocious tiger trying to fight with a swarm of bees and you can already make a guess who will win. Isn't it similar to human beings that we can achieve more when we work together?

Wats so good about being independent??haha

A lot of us should have this experiences about being furious with our parents when we were unhappy about whatever decisions our parents have made for us (especially teenage years). However what if one day your parents are able to decide on a crucial decision? Only at that time you will realise the importance of our parents in our decision making...
