Words from Physics lecturer

Attended the physics lecture today. As usual my physics lecturer, who is also the lecturer of those smart USP students, told us the importance of not to be over reliance of lecturer and model answers, and the differences of school life from the real world. Actually I have already realized it my first semester, however I am still in the process of becoming a "real" university students. I went to asked him how to do some of the questions of Mastering Physics, but he just briefly went through the process. So being a student in transformation I have to work out the answers by myself later. I just feel that my physics lecturer is quite strict with his students even if he is quite friendly sometimes. After hearing his words, I do realise that actually there are a lot of students who are so obssessed with model answers so they actually could not accept any mistakes and make their lifes full of worries. Suddenly I doubt what so many years of education has given us. I definately agree that it is important to gain as much knowledge as possible by going to school so as to be able to take up professional jobs next time to do the work well (Or else nobody goes to school already). However we should also be aware that what the school teaches are not all in our lives. We should be able to handle some other problems which may arise and we do not learn that problem in school. Think that simply means we need to think more, and think more laterally too...haha

Wai Sing farewell dinner

Went for Wai Sing's farewell dinner at pizzuhut@ps. Thanks to Mike I managed to try the vegetarian pizza for the very first time. Hmm...It tastes quite nice actually, and like mike said the blandness of the pizza makes the taste of the cheese more prominent:). We were all discussing who should give the treat and when she asked pz to, she really broke all the guys heart when she said she couldn't because she still has a dog to feed. OMG does that means that guys are more "jian" then dogs?? Hmm I really wonder. However in the end nobody volunteered to give a treat and so we shared the cost among ourselves.
After accompanied Mike to withdraw money when we discussed where to go. KTV is too expensive and the thought of singing till 4am in the morning is simply crazy. I suggested The Mind Cafe instead. However the place was so crowded that we have to wait for around 2 hours before a table is available. Therefore we went to TCC for a drink instead. WS ordered Blue Mountain which costs more then 10 bucks!! But I guess thats what some people go to TCC for isn it? I don't quite know how to appreciate coffee so I ordered a Green Apple Twist which is actually green apple milk shake. Then PY gave her present to ws. It was a scarf knitted by py herself. How sweet of her!! Both mike and I agree that WS is a fortunate guy. Hey WS do something before you leave for Australia even though its like less then a week away (Hope you see this).
After the coffee session we decided that there is no other place to go so we bid farewell. In the bus Mike is still thinking of the PY and WS case. Man I think you need love too...lol...
Did a crazy thing by applying to SMU just in case NUS do not allow me to switch course. LY keep reminding about the school fees but I feel that it is okay since there is always bank loan. Well really need to sort out my thoughts. I took out all my academic credentials to apply online when I saw a printed copy of my course choice for polytechnics last time. I think I must be crazy to put biomed science in third choice since I have 100% confidence of getting any course I place in my first choice. Well I am still good now choosing biomed eng as my first choice last time isn it??Haha. If I chose biomed science the other time then I will have a totally new experience but not sure whether is it good or bad for me too. Thats me . I always like to compare now with past and future. It is good in a sense that you know what you are doing so there is a lower chance of making any horrendous error. Sounds chim?? Call me if you want to know more...haha

Hoo hoo finally weekend!!

Finally survived a series of lectures and now is time to enjoy (and do tutorials also:(). Sadly lab sessions and tutorials are starting next week so will be more busy. I had a lot of fun this week with my OG mates and cousins.

Tuesday
Went for a dinner and movie with my OG mates. I'm glad to hear that all my OG friends are enjoying their first semester. So I guess only it will be only me who is having the thought of changing course. Anyway we discussed a lot of school stuffs and I heard that Erwin is rather worried about having to take General Biology since he has not been studying biology since secondary school days. Personally I feel that this module is just a lot of memorizing work and maybe some logical thinking so I told him that it will be easy (As I heard too from those who have taken it). We watched Pan's Labyrinth that day. I feel that if you are a literature type of person you will like that movie. It is not a horror movie as advertised. Rather the movie talks about a girl who has fantasies from a story book she read in order to draw herself away from the harsh life which she is having. Like Zhongyang said this movie is like an old movie because of the style of filming and the dark scenes throughout the movie. After the movie we went MacCafe for a drink before calling it a day.

Friday
Met up with my sister and my two cousins for dinner at Ding Tai Feng. After that Gao Rui suggested to play pool. After that pool game (10 games) we are all impressed with Gao Rui's skill. My sister and YanHao's skills have improved along the games too. It looks like polytechnic students can play pool better...yay!! Haha... After that we went to MacCafe for a drink and a couple of cakes before going home. (The brownie is very nice!!)

The Wicker Man

We went to celebrate Nasty's birthday yesterday and after that we went to watch a movie titled "The Wicker Man". Sounds cool isn't it? However I only can give this movie a rating of 3/5. The setup is fine but the ending sucks(Go and watch if you want to know why it sucks). I don't want to be a spoiler though...haha. The plot of the movie actually reminds me of another japanese drama titled "Trick". This drama is about a physics professor and his assistant trying to solve mysterious happenings which are actually setups created by a group of people. Okay now back to the movie. Well after watching this movie I really have to agree that anyone with great power, even a genius with high IQ, have little or no chances trying to fight a group of people who are not genius. Try to imagine a ferocious tiger trying to fight with a swarm of bees and you can already make a guess who will win. Isn't it similar to human beings that we can achieve more when we work together?

Wats so good about being independent??haha

A lot of us should have this experiences about being furious with our parents when we were unhappy about whatever decisions our parents have made for us (especially teenage years). However what if one day your parents are able to decide on a crucial decision? Only at that time you will realise the importance of our parents in our decision making...
